Nylabone Company Overview
The company was founded in 1955 and started making hard nylon bone-shaped chews. The company has expanded to include different types of chews, toys and interactive pet items.
Has There Ever Been A Nylabone Recall?
There was a Nylabone recall, according to our research.
In 2015 Nylabone recalled dog chews included in puppy starter kits had the potential to be contaminated with salmonella.
Also, in 2001, following a number of deaths of dogs, Nylabone issued a market recall of its highly popular Plaque Attacker dog chews over concerns about the chews breaking into small pieces. Customers were advised to “dispose of it safely so that their dogs can never chew it again,” according to a newspaper article. The company replaced this old version of Plaque Attacker with an improved model.
Over the years, there have been many complaints — and even lawsuits — against Nylabone, claiming the company’s products caused everything from injury to “seizures.” The company has strongly denied these accusations, claiming the “false” information is “tricking well-intentioned pet parents.”
The company states: “All of our products are made from non-toxic, pet-safe materials and are designed for the specific chewing style and size of your dog. From gentle teething puppies to extreme power chewers, Nylabone has a safe, healthy chew for every dog. Nylabone has been the choice of millions of dogs since we made our first chew toy over 50 years ago.”
